About

About Stoner Chicago

A few Chicago lifers, a lot of opinions and a site that sells absolutely nothing.

Who's behind this

A few Chicago lifers. We grew up here or moved here so long ago that it doesn't count anymore. We've lived in two-flats and garden units and courtyard buildings, shoveled out parking spots and argued about whether the chair counts, waited out lake-effect storms, and celebrated the first warm day like a holiday. We're not food critics, influencers or a marketing company. We're people who know which beef stand is worth the ride and which theater has clouds on the ceiling, and we got tired of seeing Chicago described by people who visited once.

We don't put our names on it. It's not that serious, and it's not about us.

Why this exists

Chicago is one of the best cities in the country to be a stoner, and almost nobody writes about it well. Most of what's out there is a quick list by someone in town for a weekend, or a sales pitch dressed up as a guide. We wanted a site for people who actually live here, written the way we'd tell a friend: the best munchies, what's open late, where to watch a movie, what to do on a freezing Tuesday, and the honest rules on where you can sesh.

Editorial standards

  • No paid placements. Nobody pays to be on this site, and nobody can pay to get off it.
  • No affiliate links. We don't earn anything when you click, buy or book.
  • No ties to any business. We aren't connected to any shop, brand, restaurant or dispensary, and we don't sell anything.
  • No dispensary rankings. That's a different conversation and a different site.
  • Only real places. We only name places we're confident exist and are operating. If we're not sure, we describe the type of place instead of guessing.
  • No made-up details. We don't invent prices, hours, menu items or reviews. Places change, so check before you go.
  • Evergreen on purpose. No events, no deals, no dates. The stuff here should still be true next year.
  • Legal info is general. We explain the rules in plain English, but we're not lawyers, and nothing here is legal advice.

The house rules

Adults only. Be good to your neighbors. Never drive high. Tip the night crew.

Corrections

Chicago changes, and places close. We review the guides regularly, and if a spot closes or a rule changes, we update the page.
